DD's Spotlight on AKIRA Chicago

Not so long ago I happened upon AKIRA, a Chicago based retailer that opened in 2002 and stands as one of the major influences on fashion trends in Chicago. AKIRA boasts over 200 different domestic and international designer brands and a vast variety of local Chicago designers. AKIRA believes that "even the pickiest fashionista won’t go away empty handed."

The contemporary retailer offers it's own line of clothing, AKIRA and AKIRA Black Label, along with brands like Jessica Simpson, Poetic Licence, Seychelles and House of Harlow. To me, AKIRA offers a look and style of clothing with a similar edgy and effortless aesthetic as TopShop. However, in perusing their site I found that AKIRA offers fashionable options with prices that are a bit more wallet friendly.

At first glance, you may not consider AKIRA for your standard 9 to 5 work attire, but just like Forever 21 there's always something you'll be able to incorporate into your day wardrobe. Choose blazers to mix with their flirty tops and add some of their fab accessory offerings. And let's not forget the shoes, divas!

Crepe Satin  Contrast Sleeve Top $29.90

Striped Knit Blazer in White $44.90

Summer Weight Denim Trouser $39.90

Blue Cheetah Print Scarf $14.90
Qupid Jocelyn-19 in Taupe $39.90

I made my first purchase from AKIRA this weekend, I'll be sure to post a review after I receive my order! Check out their stylish offerings at AkiraChicago and use code PETRINA at checkout for 15% off. Also, orders of $150 or more get free shipping.

Happy Shopping!
